“LET FOOD BE THY MEDICINE AND MEDICINE BE THY FOOD” HIPPOCRATES
They say, “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” The modern-day food supply is a land mine of toxic ingredients.
It’s tainted with many unpronounceable chemicals and cheap inflammatory vegetable oils which are hidden in the labels.
Furthermore, current monoculture farming practices have added toxins like glyphosates into the crops while depleting the soil of many nutrients.
In addition, meat from factory farms are pumped full of growth hormones and antibiotics.
The animals are also often treated poorly and live their whole lives in cramped quarters and suffering. That energy is transferred when consumed.
Needless to say, eating factory meat is more toxic for you than nutritious.
Therefore, obesity, autoimmune and chronic diseases have risen to epic proportions due to the state of modern-day food.
Now more than ever, it’s crucial to be very selective in what you chose to eat. Your health and vitality depends on it.

CHOOSE ORGANIC
Yes, it is more expensive but would you rather pay a little more now, or a lot more later for medical and prescription bills?
A good tip is to shop at a local farmer’s market to get the best prices and to support the farmers in your community. This is a big win-win!
Alternatively, if you can’t afford organic, there’s a hack for that. Soak nonorganic veggies in a 1 part vinegar and 3 part water solution in a bowl for 3 min.
Then scrub veggies vigorously with a soft brush and rinse with clean water. You can reuse the solution to soak the remainder of your veggies.
EAT WHOLE FOODS
If it doesn’t grow from the ground or raised by mother nature, it’s processed food. Anything that comes in a box or a package is processed food.
The more processed it is, the less nutritious it is. The longer the shelf life, the more chemicals and preservatives it contains.
Therefore, whenever possible eat food straight from the source for the most nutrients.
AVOID SUGAR AND HIGH GLYCEMIC FOODS
Sugar is a toxin that wreaks havoc on your body and promotes disease. So it’s best to cut out all refined sugar.
There are substitutes like stevia, monk fruit, and xylitol you can use to replace them which are zero calories. Never use aspartame as its a neurotoxin.
Sugar and other high glycemic foods, spike your blood sugar (glucose) levels. Prolonged high levels in your system lead to diabetes and other complications.
Simple carbs like pastry, wholewheat bread, and fast food are among the highest on the glycemic index.
There are many examples on the web of certain types of foods if you would like to know more. Ditto for free apps you can download that will tell you the specific ratings for food on the glycemic index.
CHOOSE YOUR OWN OPTIMAL DIET
Keto, Paleo, Carnivore, Vegan, Ancestral….
Which one is the best to follow? There are many supposedly “ optimal” diets out there.
Each diet comes with experts and science to back up this claim. So how do you know who to believe!?
The answer is yourself. Pick a diet that really resonates with you and then do your own research.
Try a diet for at least 3 months and see how you feel. Don’t believe the hype. Honestly tune into your body and see how that diet makes you feel.
We are all different biologically so there’s no one size fits all diet. Choose the one or even combination of diets that makes you feel and perform the most optimal.
At the end of the day, eating clean is what’s more important. There are many roads that lead to optimal health. Find your own path.

WATER – THE HIDDEN NUTRIENT
We are made of more than 70% water. Water is responsible for so many vital functions in our body.
This includes keeping us hydrated, flushing out toxins, regulating body temperature, just to name a few.
Water also supports thousands of other bodily functions. Therefore, it’s crucial that we find the purest and most bioavailable source of water out there.
Having the purest water is just as important, if not more important than having the purest food.
I recommend fresh glacial mountain spring water if possible. It’s negatively charged, vortexed, structured, mineral water made by Mother Nature.
If you can’t get it from the source, buy a huge jug from the store.
If you want to know why that’s the best, then I highly recommend Dr. Gerald Pollack’s book. “The Fourth Phase of Water”
GROW YOUR OWN
The best way to ensure the quality of your food is to do it yourself. You’ll be surprised how easy it is once you get the basics down.
If land is an issue, look for community gardens, farm co-ops, or just friends and neighbors who are open to sharing the land and harvest.
If you’re a meat-eater, learn how to hunt your own wild
game. Be sure to eat nose to tail.
Most of the nutrients are not in the muscle meat but in the organs and other parts. This is an added bonus as you are not wasting anything.
FEED THE REST OF YOU
Don’t forget your mind, body, and spirit are connected. Nourishment is not just for the body. What are you feeding your mind and spirit?
Are you constantly feeding those aspects too? If not, here are something’s to think about.
What kind of books, podcasts, skills, ways of being, ways of knowing are you learning? Who do you surround yourself with?
Are you obsessed with personal growth? Are you constantly pushing yourself outside your comfort zone?
If you’ve answered no to one or more of these questions…What are you waiting for? Get on it!
